Walter Payton’s Roundhouse Restaurant and Museum

Renie had an hour-long snooze after we checked into the Comfort Suites in Aurora, Illinois.  When Sleeping Beauty arose we walked across the parking lot and went into Walter Payton’s Roundhouse restaurant and museum.  Several other women from our bus were finishing their meals there.

It was recommended that we check the bar menu for sandwiches if less expensive fare is what we desired.  The restaurant menu had some interesting-sound dishes on it but we contented ourselves with a shared pastrami sandwich
and an order of bruschetta.
Both were unimpressive but edible.  Our server, Malik, was a charming and helpful young man, eager to invite us to visit the Payton museum housed on the premises.

After our meal we checked out the museum — a small room lined with photos of former Chicago Bears running back, the late Walter Payton in action, and a couple books of newspaper pages featuring stories of his prowess.  A couple of the photos depicted a man with a rascal’s sense of humor, demonstrated by a couple shots of him pulling down another plays jersey pants.  Nice bum.  ‘-)

After returning to our room, Renie had a bath and I went for a walk outside—it was a beautiful evening.  Aurora, Illinois is located on the banks of a river—I haven’t figured out which one—and I walked across a bridge over the water.  The hotel has a nice gazebo area in front of it, too.  I believe it is probably their outdoor smoker’s lounge since the whole place is smoke-free.

When we arrived in our room upon check-in, I checked my mail and all was fine.  After returning from dinner I was unable to get an internet connection.  A call to the front desk garnered a reply from the Nice Lady that no one else had indicated a problem but she would have their tech support person ring me up.  I had already done all I knew to do and he had me plug in an ethernet cable to see if that improved things.  It did not.  Guess what!  It actually was something wrong on their end and I figure they’re lucky I called it to their attention tonight so it could be fixed — a matter of re-setting a router or something, I believe—before their guests were wanting to check mail in the morning.

Uffda!  I need to go to bed.

Thanks for looking.
